011: Southwest Companion Pass – DO IT!

The Southwest Star has aligned and it is the perfect time to try for a COMPANION PASS.

The Southwest Companion Pass rules can be found in HERE (then click on What are the Rapid Rewards® Rules and Regulations?)

Why you want a Companion Pass

A Member who earns 110,000 Qualifying Points or who flies 100 qualifying one-way flights booked through Southwest Airlines per calendar year will qualify for Companion Pass status, which entitles a designated traveling Companion to fly with the Member for one year on flights booked through Southwest Airlines.

Companion Pass qualification will be based on a calendar year. Once Companion Pass status is earned, the Member can begin using his/her Companion Pass immediately once they have designated a Companion. The Member will maintain Companion Pass status for the remainder of the calendar year in which the status was earned and for the entire calendar year immediately following. To continue receiving Companion Pass privileges, the Member must re-qualify each calendar year.

The Member will automatically be notified of Companion Pass eligibility and provided with Companion Pass rules and instructions for designating a Companion. The Member is limited to one Companion Pass at any time; however, the designated Companion can be changed up to three times during the validity period.

Companion Pass travel has no blackout dates or seat restrictions.

How to get a Companion Pass

Chase offers 3 co-branded Southwest Airline cards, when the bonus is at 50,000 points for each, apply for TWO of the cards. Next apply for a Marriott card and transfer those points to your Southwest Rapid Rewards program and now you have enough points for the Companion Pass.

check our current credit card deals & offers page for the latest bonuses offered.

REMINDER: This bonus offer is not available to either current or previous rapid reward cardmembers who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This applies to each card individually, meaning, for example, if you currently have a Plus card, you can apply for the Premier card and still receive a bonus.

REMINDER: You can also redeem your Marriott Rewards points for Rapid Rewards Points:

  • 30,000 Marriott Points = 10,000 Southwest Point
  • 70,000 Marriott Points = 25,000 Southwest Points

REMINDER: Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer to Southwest 1:1 but they do NOT count towards a companion pass.
